Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Annual Conference

In its fourth year of working to protect and restore the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River, this organization of Great Lakes cities' mayors has focused primarily on water quality issues like ballast water controls, proper disposal of hazardous waste and pharmaceuticals, and water conservation. As host of the 2007 event, our client, the City of Grand Rapids, wished to broaden the agenda to encompass all facets of the triple bottom line of sustainability. a5's background with sustainable issues, clients and events provided the experience they desired to move beyond water issues to an agenda of education, networking and take-home tools that enable cities to understand the broader impact of environmental, social and economic factors that contribute to the long-term sustainability of communities that depend on healthy water.
